Dung Beetles literally turn another’s waste into life!  

For some species of dung beetle, their rolled dung balls are used as breeding chambers for their young. After rolling up a fresh lug, sometimes ten times their own body weight, dung beetles roll their prized sphere in a straight line, despite any obstacles, to find a soft spot in which to bury their brooding ball. The species depicted on this patch, the African dung beetle (Scarabaeus satyrus) is the only known non-vertebrate animal to navigate and orient itself using the Milky Way. THIS TINY INSECT USES CELESTIAL BODIES TO FIND THE PERFECT PLACE TO BURY ITS DUNG BALL. I mean... wow! Once the perfect location is found, the female will lay her egg inside of the dung ball, which is later used as a food source for the next tiny member of a new generation!  

Plus, dung beetles are great heroes for the human population as well! By burying and consuming dung, they improve nutrient recycling and soil structure, disperse and bury seeds which promote biodiversity in ecosystems, and protect the health of livestock by removing the habitats of flies. Just goes to show you how one’s trash can be turned into everyone’s treasure!
