DEAD ZONES
“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.” -John Muir

On average 5,300 square miles of dead zone occurs every year in the Gulf of Mexico, the second largest dead zone on the planet.

These kerchiefs were dyed with locally sourced pomegranate skins, printed with a mud resist and dipped into a natural indigo vat many times. I finished each kerchief with a careful hand rolled hem. The result is kind of magic - there is a sheen on these kerchiefs that literally glisten.

18 by 18 in. +/-
soft lightweight silk - organic cotton blend
naturally dyed with pomegranate & indigo
hand rolled hem
(each kerchief is shipped with a reclaimed cotton storage bag + copy of the DEAD ZONE essay)

**please note that your kerchief may not look exactly like this one. Each kerchief was dipped into the indigo vat one at a time - making each kerchief unique and one of a kind.

Because photographing naturally dyed fabrics is WILD & because all device screen colors may vary, the color of the scarf you see here may vary slightly in real life. Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions!!
